CSL Behring Will Help Transform Biotech Education and Research with $4.92 Million Gift to Penn State
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. – September 19, 2017 - Penn State today announced that CSL Behring, a global specialty biotherapeutics leader, has committed $4.92 million to Penn State over the next six years to create the multidisciplinary Center of Excellence in Biotechnology, and to revitalize the Shared Fermentation Facility, an engine for collaboration and innovation in biological training and research on the University Park campus.
Engineering Professor Named One of Five Inaugural Moore Inventor Fellows
Penn State Electrical Engineering faculty member, Xingjie Ni, has been named a Moore Inventor Fellow by the Gordon and Betty Moore Foundation. This is the first year for the Moore Inventor Fellowships program, which recognizes early-career innovators at U.S. universities with a high potential to accelerate progress in scientific research, environmental conservation and patient care.

Baker Huges Makes $1.9 Million Software Gift to Earth and Mineral Sciences
Oilfield service company, Baker Hughes, has donated $1.9M worth of technical software and computers to the College of Earth and Mineral Sciences. Baker Hughes' JewelSuite reservoir modeling software, MFrac hydraulic design and simulation software and Completion ArchiTex 3D completion design software will enhance teaching, learning and research in both the Department of Geosciences and the John and Willie Leone Family Department of Energy and Mineral Engineering.
