“We Are” Penn State because of people like you.
As a volunteer with the Division of Development and Alumni Relations, your dedication of time, talent, and vision drives our University to be better every day. To help you navigate your role at Penn State, we’ve created this webpage—a place where you can find campaign information, meeting agendas, and other documents, links, and materials needed to support your volunteer responsibilities. Our goal is to help you as you help us shape a bright future for Penn State. Thank you for your partnership!
To put it simply, volunteers are the lifeblood of Penn State’s fundraising efforts. The unique and diverse perspectives they bring-as alumni, donors, parents, and industry and community leaders-are invaluable to our University.”

Penn State’s volunteer fundraisers are invaluable partners and essential in helping to fulfill the University’s land-grant mission of education, research and service. Private gifts from alumni and friends enrich the experiences of students both in and out of the classroom; expand the research and teaching capacity of our faculty; and enhance the University's ability to recruit and retain top students and faculty. These efforts are an important component of ensuring that students from every economic background are afforded the unique opportunity to have a Penn State education.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — As Penn State moves forward with A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence, a fast-paced, five-year fundraising campaign which launched in July 2016, the University has named Richard “Rick” Sokolov as campaign chair. As of September, Sokolov will lead the University’s corps of fundraising volunteers and assist Penn State leadership in advancing the campaign goal of securing $1.6 billion toward the key imperatives of a great public university.
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Last month, Penn State named Martha B. Jordan a 2017 Distinguished Alumna for her service and giving in support of the University. Jordan is the current chair of the Penn State Advisory Council on Philanthropy, which has led Penn State’s effort to launch a new University-wide fundraising campaign, "A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence."
UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Penn State has named John “Jack” and Jeanette Dachille McWhirter, both alumni and longtime supporters, its 2017 Philanthropists of the Year for their support of programs across the University. The award, which was presented last month, recognizes individuals or couples who have demonstrated exceptional generosity in the promotion and support of Penn State.
