UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — Last month, Penn State named Martha B. Jordan a 2017 Distinguished Alumna for her service and giving in support of the University. Jordan is the current chair of the Penn State Advisory Council on Philanthropy, which has led Penn State’s effort to launch a new University-wide fundraising campaign, "A Greater Penn State for 21st Century Excellence."

The 2017 Class Gift Campaign was recently announced as one of 18 recipients of grant money made available through a new program launched by the Penn State Bookstore, which is managed by Barnes & Noble. The program will award $825,000 in grants to the Penn State community over the next five years to seed new initiatives among students and faculty that will advance the University’s most pressing academic priorities. The grants are part of a larger University-wide philanthropic commitment of $1.25 million from the bookstore.

Penn State received a $1-million-dollar gift from the parents of a currently enrolled international student. This gift will be used to establish the “President’s Global Experience Fund” endowment. The purpose of the endowment will be to support the Global Penn State initiative to assist the University in providing students and faculty with universal experiences and perspectives and in solving universal problems through partnerships and initiatives that span the world.
